The WAY Academy has been founded on John 14:6, Jesus said to him, “I am the way and the truth and life. No one comes to the Father except through me."The vision God gave us for The WAY Academy is to create a Christ-centered school, that will reach our community, and transform the lives' of middle and high school students, by helping them excel spiritually, academically, and athletically.

Charles Williams Jr.

President / Founder

Bible/PE/Production Teacher

Charles has spent the last 20 years in both the public and private sectors of education, serving the community as a math teacher, basketball coach, dean, assistant principal, and principal. Charles became the first in his family to attend and finish college, earning a BA and MA in Music, and a M. Ed. and Ed. D. in Educational Leadership. Charles and his wife Betsy were both collegiate athletes, and have three daughters, and together they regularly attend and serve at Real Life Church, as well as coach basketball and volleyball respectively, for youth teams in their community.

Betsy Williams

Director of Admissions/Co-Founder

Resource/Intervention Teacher

Betsy is a follower of Jesus Christ. She was born and raised in Ohio. She earned a full-ride scholarship to play collegiate volleyball for Florida International University from which she graduated in 2004 with a Bachelors in Recreational Therapy. After a brief career in the RT field, Betsy pursued teaching and coaching as it was something she was always passionate about! She became the head volleyball coach and ESE teacher at a local public school. During this time Betsy earned her Masters Degree in Educational Leadership. Betsy is married to Charles Williams and together they have 3 daughters! In her spare time Betsy loves to spend time in worship, have fun with her family and friends, watch sports, play sports and go to the beach!

Ashley Platé

Dean of Spiritual Growth

ELA/History/STEAM Teacher

Ashley Platé has been an educator for more than 17 years, serving in both private and public schools. She has taught middle and high school English Language Arts, History, and Bible, in addition to serving as Assistant Principal and Principal. Her passion is helping students meet Jesus in all areas of education, from experiencing literature through a Biblical worldview, to learning how to persevere by faith when schoolwork gets challenging. A Florida native, she earned both her Bachelor's degree and Master's degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Central Florida. Mrs. Platé lives in Clermont with her husband, Jonah, and two daughters. In her spare time, she loves camping, theme parking, dancing, reading, and making art.

Brittany Glass

Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment

Math/Science/STEM Teacher

Brittany has enjoyed learning since her early childhood. That love for learning extended through the entirety of her educational career. Brittany earned a bachelor's degree in computer science and mathematics in 2011 and a masters degree in education in 2015. Ever since then she has been sharing her love of learning with her students at both the middle and high school levels. She seeks to be an example for her students as she lives her life to know and love Jesus Christ. Brittany also spends time volunteering in her local community church as a teacher in the youth ministry.

Moses Stevens

Board Chair

Moses Stevens is a dedicated husband to Nicole, and father to MJ, Aaron, and Amara. Moses is a refugee of the West African country Liberia, and has been a resident of Florida since November 1997, and as a young child, grew up in a home with parents who taught the importance of following the Lord. Moses attended Palm Beach Atlantic University, and pursued a degree in ministry. 

Moses is a store manager at Publix, where he leads his staff to successful outcomes on a daily basis. He is also a part of the worship team at Mosaic church, and serves his church community faithfully. Moses subscribes to the following quote as he leads daily; “We all have God given talents, and when used selflessly we have the ability to touch and change lives. Let our goal be to leave the world better than we found it, and achieve that through the passion through which we share our gifts.” - Jefferey Redding, Ph.D.

Scorpio Mosley

Meet Scorpio Mosley, a dedicated and passionate board member of The Way Academy. Scorpio is a loving husband of 11 years, happily married to his beautiful and supportive wife, Lynn. He's been blessed with four amazing daughters who add joy to life and inspire him daily - Princess, Raven, Serenity, and Harmony.

With a wealth of experience in the insurance industry spanning over 17 years, Scorpio is a seasoned professional who understands the importance of protecting and caring for others. His commitment to ensuring the well-being of individuals and families extends beyond his professional life. As a serial entrepreneur, Scorpio has a knack for running towards complex challenges and transforming them into innovative solutions.

Scorpio's love for wisdom and inspiration shines through his passion for collecting and sharing quotes, and Scorpio holds a special place in his heart for his favorite bible verse, Romans 12:12, which reminds him to rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, and steadfast in prayer. As a board member of TWA, Scorpio brings his creativity, intelligence, and friendly nature to the table, and is deeply committed to creating a nurturing and empowering educational environment where students can flourish.

Erin Carney

Erin Carney has lived in Lake County for over 35 years. She worked in customer service in the HVAC industry for over 20 years before following her dream of being a home organizer. She now owns Bless This Mess home organizing. She is always been active in the school system raising her three boys. She’s involved in her church and lives in Leesburg with her husband. They enjoyed being involved with the Leesburg Lightning summer collegiate baseball team and spending time with their three grandchildren.
